As I write this it seems like I am being guided. Moving offices at work on Friday I thought about Janet when I came across some files from my previous employer. Although over the years I have kept abreast of Janet’s accomplishments I decided last night to google Janet and see what she was up to. It came as a huge shock to see that she had recently passed away. I taught Janet when she was training to be a teacher at Edge Hill. As a student she was exemplary – she was hard working committed and driven; as a person she was trustworthy, fun and kind. Her enthusiasm and determination knew no bounds and she really had such a positive impact on everyone around her – including the other students in her cohort. I never doubted her passion for teaching and it’s no surprise that she embarked on a very successful teaching career. Some people come into your life for a relatively short space of time but have a big impact. I feel blessed to have known Janet, to have taught her and to have been able to follow her teaching career. I know that her legacy will live on in all those she inspired. She was a bundle of energy and enthusiasm and I hope family and friends take comfort in the memories of her. My deepest sympathies Jocelyn Tantawy (nee Appleton)
